School has started again. Old Kenyon 217 with Zack. HARD CORE. Although my schedule forces me to get up relatively early each day, my classes are incredibly cool. Real Analysis will probably be my hardest class, but may, along with Mathematical Logic, prove to be the most interesitng. My professor for Existentialism, De Pascuale, is a total fucking badass. Intro to Programming will be super easy and will get rid of a requirement for the Math Major, and Classical Quest may have some interesting contrasts with Existentialism.
This year is going to kick a copious amount of ass. My work load will probably a bit more than last year's, but it shouldn't be too bad. Right now I've gotta do a proof-thing writeup for Real, and (re)read part of Plato's Apology of Socrates for Classical Quest.
On a side note, I'm learning to drive stick. Current Mood: Word Current Music: Morcheeba - Aqualung

Honestly theres only one of these movies that I found to be subpar:

Just a week ago I had the huge fortune of seeing what could quite possibly be one of the greatest films of all time:
SHAOLIN MASTER KILLER.
This film features Gordon Liu (to the unlettered in the ways of the Kung Fu Movie, Pai Mei in Kill Bill Part 2) in the title role. To make a badass story short, Liu's parents get iced by the Manchu. Liu vows to learn the ways of Shaolin Kung-Fu in order to get revenge!
He travels to Shaolin temple and begins his training in each of the 35 CHAMBERS. Needless to say, Liu has mad skills, returns to Canton or wherever he was from, and proceeds to fuck shit up, Shaolin-style.
Totally sweet.
Now I digress to the semi-real world: DOOM III COMES OUT SOON I can't wait.
Back to the real; today after work I went to grab dinner with NIranjan, NETWORK SECURITY ANALYST or whatnot for Kenyon. Niranjan is totally badass. Much like Gordon LIu.
Anyway, T-A few weeks until I take up residence in Old Kenyon! Prepare for it!Current Mood: shaolin Current Music: Schubert PIano Trio in Eb Major op. 100 (Ashkenazy et al.)

I return! Here's some highlights of my summer so far:
- I moved out of New Apartment A-2 (for many reasons, even though the A-2ites are cool) and moved into Farr Hall Apartment 220. The Farr Hall apartment is sweet, especially when some girls down the hall decided to throw a party which included, but was not limited to, a baby pool full of Margarita. ROCKING.
- Work is cool, getting paid is cool, cash rules everything around me C.R.E.A.M. get the money dollar dollar bills yall.
- At the aforementioned party, I unleashed a rhyme so devastating that it disrupted my own physical balance upon uttering it. Due to its power I will not repeat it unless the situation demands it.
- NetFlix rules.
- I read some really sweet books as of late, especially The Manchurian Candidate. I suggest that everybody reads it seeing as it kicks ass. Hopefully the forthcoming remake movie with the King of Awesome Denzel Washington (if you dispute this title please see Training Day) will be even 4/5 as good (which will be pretty damn good). Right now I'm working on the Dune Chronicles, specifically Children of Dune. For some reason I've never gotten around to reading them. As always, Frank Herbert is crazy cool.
As for next semester, and Sophomore year, I have high hopes. Old Kenyon 217 with none other than ZACK will be dope. Canada next month with Zack Chaz and Erlend will be dope3. Finally being back on a steady meal plan will be dopedope. Academically, Math Logic and REAL ANALYSIS will be funmax.
Overall this summer has been quite possibly one of the best I have had. Next summer could be even cooler, with my knowledge of Gambier in the summer (which is quite nearly as great as Gambier during the year).
However, it comes the time for a slightly angsty paragraph:
MINOR ANGST ALERT There are some people, you know who you are, who need to RTFM (no specific manual, just the proverbial one), STFU, and stop whining and arguing and moping and being people who spend all their time and energy whining and arguing and moping. NO MORE ANGST

Well, I haven't posted to this in a very long time. But! School is over. I managed to pass. None of my finals were bad, however my Logic final was extremely strange. Due to the way that my Professor grades the class, taking the final is NOT manditory. However if everybody takes the final and you do not, then your grade will suffer accordingly. If nobody takes the final, then nobody's grade changes. Three people who were failing had to take the final in order to have a chance to pass the class, but, if nobody else took the final, nobody's grade would have been significantly hurt. So, this one girl got nearly everyone in the class to not want to take the final. However, my friend and I's grade was borderline A/B, so I decided to take the final no matter what. Because if nobody else took the final then, my grade would have skyrocketed and that was unfair, everyone else had to take the final. I pissed off alot of people.
I'm living at Kenyon over the summer, staying in Mather until the week is out, then heaidng to New Apartment A2. Since food services are out, I have to cook for myself, etc, but i find myself eating better than I ever did while Pierce or Gund was open. I'm also working for the Library and Information Services doing IT work, just like I did in high school, except this time I'm getting paid more and not treated like a piece of shit. It's very nice not to have much pressure on, from school and whatnot, but it is kind of slow with practically nobody around. There are enough cool people to keep me occupied though, and there's always NetFlix.
More to come.Current Mood: mellow Current Music: Saint-Saens - Danse Macabre Op. 40

So I was practicing my violin below Rosse, hitting the Cadenza of Mendelssohn's Concerto in E minor. Then, suddenly, BAM. My bridge flies off my violin, cracked into pretty much two pieces.
So now I have to either find someone who has an extra bridge and attempt to fit it to my violin, order one off the internet and attempt to fit it, or find someone with skill to do it for me.
Damn. It looks like I will be on another hiatus from the Violin.

I finally returned back to Linux, and boy is it good. Sure its a pain in the ass. But I have no idea how I used Windows for the majority of this school year.
Anyway, this Friday coming up is going to be HARDCORE. Why you may ask? Because, some of us from Kenyon are going to take a trip down to Columbus to see the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are 8 dollars, and they are playing
* Prokofieff Symphony no. 5 in B-flat major, op. 100 * Beethoven Concerto no. 5 in E-Flat Major for Piano: EMPORER
YES THATS RIGHT. One of the most hardcore piano concertos ever. This is going to kick so much ass. Man. Whoa.
Anyway my legs hurt from starting to seriously bike again. Ow.
On a more important note though: SOME BASTARD STOLE ONE OF MY BOWLS OF GO STONES. WHAT THE HELL. Obviously it was a prank, seeing as they would have taken something of REAL value if they actually wanted to steal (PS2, Monitor, ENTIRE go set maybe?) But its time for me to marshal the troops and ride to war. The honor of the Go board is at stake! I cannot let my white stones be held in enemy territory.
Hopefully they will turn up soon otherwise I will be forced to crack some skulls. Metaphorically, of course.
Zack Erlend and I tried the triples lottery the other day, but we got offered zilch. That means Zack and I are hitting the doubles lottery. Hopefully we will get a good pick and will be able to live south, but if not, there's always Mather. And if not that there's always Caples.
Anyway thats it for now. I'm out.

OK I need to get back into the habit of posting to this regularly. Why? Because I have absolutely nothing better to do. Quick breakdown of the past week or two:
- I went to a Math contest / conference in Cincinatti, where Kenyon proceeded to clean house.
- I got a big white board in order to do math without having loads of scrap paper.
- I signed up for like 6 math (well, 5 math + 1 logic) communities on LiveJournal.
- I looked at what classes I may take next year, and, I found the math classes that I'm probably going to take.
See a pattern here? I might as well just declare my major now and get it over with. Anyway, not much else is going on. Which pisses me off because I'm trying to get things to go on. Last weekend was pretty cool, Zack Erlend Joel and I went out to the Milk Cartons and Old Kenyon etc. Hilarities ensued.
The Housing Lottery is coming up soon; Zack and I are going to room next year but we really should find a block in order to get a better chance for a badass room. A nagging feeling is telling me that we are going to be in Caples next year. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm kinda hoping for a nicer room. Oh well whatever happens.
I started playing violin again, after an eight month hiatus. New strings coming soon. Skill slowly returning. I really don't know how I went for so long without the violin.
It seems that this livejournal contains too much boring information about my life that nobody really wants to know and not enough witty banter with whomever may be reading this. Sadly enough the Internet is not very conducive to my being witty. Sorry.
Thats it for now.

Well, I haven't posted to my livejournal in a while. So here I am. It's the last day of break, I'm heading back to Kenyon tommorow. Although break was fun and relaxing, I'm ready to head back to Gambier. I should be finishing my religion paper on the evolution of the Covenant from Abraham to Moses to Jesus to Paul, but instead I'm watching basketball and writing livejournal posts. Boy am I productive. Speaking of March Madness, my bracket is only doing mediocre. Luckily, I've only lost one Sweet 16, so perhaps I can pull ahead in the big point games. Go Stanford !
Today was a harsh day for me, on the Go board at least. For some reason, I couldn't concentrate in any of the games I played. I dropped from 15 kyu to somewhere between 16 and 17. Although the ranking doesn't really mean much, it is kind of disheartening to see. Maybe I've played too much Go lately, and need to cut back? I think perhaps I just haven't played enough. I'll play some more tonight.
Speaking of Go, next year the KENYON GO CLUB will defiantly form! I didn't want to start this year, because frankly I didn't feel that I was strong enough to teach a large group of people well. Sure, I could have given them the basics, but I still feel a bit uncomfortable. However, this summer, because I'm going to be staying in Gambier, there won't be much else for me to do besides hang with the roughly 100 students who will be staying and play Go. So, I should be able to get alot stronger.
I noticed that my LiveJournal has a severe lack of WHINE and ANGST compared to alot of other Xangas and Livejournals. But since I have a severe lack of things to whine and be angsty about in my actual life, I'll whine about Go some more. The one thing that pisses me off about Go (I think it's just because I can only really play online, seeing as there is nobody else), is the large amount of Anime obsessed people that play. I'll be the first to tell you that I had my Anime days, but I mean really. The next person (whose obviously American) who says "Hello" "Good Luck" and "Thanks" in Japanese and has a stupid picture from some anime will get ruined by my A game.
Well thats enough talking about Go for now. Hmm. Breakwise, Zack came and stayed with me for the first few days of break, which was cool. Andy, Shari, Shane and I went to the OJCL convention (LATIN CONVENTION) last weekend in Columbus, which rocked. Seeing as we were SCL (SENIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE) members, we were chaperones and had AUTHORITY. Unfortunately, since the Ramada was booked completely, they had to shove some of us across the street into the Cross Country Inn. Although Andy felt that it was the shittiest Motel ever, it wasn't so bad. The freight trains that ran by behind the motel every hour during the night were sort of soothing. Some of my other friends came in for break this week too. I saw Triplets of Belleville, which was a very odd, but good movie. Speaking of movies, I saw that they were making ANOTHER MUMMY MOVIE. Good God.
Oh well.
Theres nothing else to say for now.
